If there are several things an overweight beagle needs, that would be food intake alterations, exercise routine and beagle training. But before we discuss the remedies to this excess fat problem, let’s tackle first the issue as to why many dogs are overweight. As we all know, dogs these days exist as domestic pets. Apart from that, it can be so hard to resist those cute eyes pleading for food each time he sees you eating something he is not allowed to eat like chocolate and other foods safe for human consumption but harmful for dogs.
An overweight pet calls for a change in diet and lifestyle. When switching foods, remember to do so gradually so as not to cause stomach upset. High quality food rich in protein should be introduced in small amount at a time then slowly increase the amount over time.
Regular exercise is as essential as high quality food. Your beagle should be|has to be taken out for walks at least once daily and must be provided with dog training sessions on regular basis. Train your dog basic obedience and if he has mastered the basic, go for other complex tricks like rollover, play dead and others. With this, your dog will keep on moving hence give him more exercise. Furthermore, training will also keep him mentally too busy to think about food.
To make daily walks stress-free, it is best that your pet is trained how to walk correctly at the same time trained in using collar and leash while young. To sum it all up, developing good habit begins at an early age so better begin training your puppy before it’s too late.
