Correct Communication Guarantees Successful Dog Training Results

One of the tell tale signs as to whether your dog training will succeed or be an absolute failure is the attitude with which you and your dog approach the training. While you may feel it is hopeless based on the level of serious behavioral issues your dog presents, having the right attitude with respect to training will help overcome any bad dog behavior. However, you are ultimately in complete control of your dogs attitude. You have to use training to ensure your dog becomes a member of the family like you want which will enhance a relationship between you two that is free of frustration and stress.
We will deal only with training dogs between six months of age and older as there is a difference in training techniques when teaching a dog below the age of six months and that age group requires methods specifically intended for puppies. Teaching a six month old dog with kindergarten methods would be an insult to its intelligence, much like a college student would be offended if the instructor talked using child like teaching techniques. Just as likely, a child would not successfully learn anything by listening intently to a college level lecture about the theory of relatively.
Your Dog and A Positive Attitude
If your dog’s training periods each day consist of nothing but commands, a negative attitude will develop from your pet. Since you are basically changing everything about your dogs daily routine, you have the added responsibility of making these training sessions something your pet will enjoy and want to take part in.
This can be easily achieved by simply using verbal communication during your dog obedience training. Here lies another key that will spell the difference between mediocre and excellent performance from your dog. By communicating verbally doesn’t mean the usual ‘Heel’ and ‘Sit’ commands. Literally talk to your dog. You need to say aloud with enthusiasm phrases such as “thats a good boy/girl, good dog”.
Although your dog has no idea what you are saying, two things are actually taking place while you’re talking. Your dog will be motivated to please you and with your praise based on your warm and encouraging tone, will present a very positive environment.
Secondly, this positve motivation will evoke a great positive attitude from your dog. To the contrary, commands should be vocalized in an entirely different tone. They should absolutely be interpreted as commands not just a request. They are then followed up with encouragement and praise whenever the dog has successfully followed the command or after the dog is shown the correct response. These steps make for easy DIY dog training.
You have to remember that communication is the essential component for success when training your dog. If you talk to your dog in a very positive way showing a supportive attitude, your dog will also respond with a positve attitude that will be evident in his exctiement to start daily training. A positive attitude is just one of the ways that makes for easy dog obedience training.
