Dog Boarding Kennels: Choosing A Kennel

Dog boarding kennels vary considerably in what they offer and what they charge. You need to have some idea of what you are looking for before you start to check out the various boarding kennels in your district. Does your dog need human contact and, or, to play with other animals? Some breeds and some individual animals can be aggressive in certain situations. Should your pet have time socialising with others? Or is your dog a quiet one who by nature or age wishes to be left alone to sleep most of the day?

Do you expect your dog to be able to have their own kennel and if so are you willing to pay extra for this service? Is the amount of space they have important to you? Is it important to your for your dog to be able to go outside whenever they want or is it enough that they get outside for an hour or so a day? Many places only allow dogs out of their small spaces for an hour twice a day and you need to know this in advance.

If your dog is a small one do you want them to be kept separately from the big dogs? Alternatively a small-dog boarding kennels might be better as they can provide that specialised care that the little ones need.

You will want to choose dog boarding kennels which will provide your precious pet with the food he or she is used to. The last thing you want is to come home from a work trip or holiday and find your dog a bag of bones who has refused to eat because he doesn’t like the food that has been put in the food plate. Make sure in advance that your dog can eat the type of food he or she is used to.
