Golden retrievers breed were invented by the inmates of Scotland who originated them after their successful crossing of a yellow retriever with a Tweed Water Spaniel, supposed to be a Field Spaniel breed that is now believed to have been no more in existence.
Labrador retrievers are different from Spaniels, as they generally stay with families and hunt well, while the latter are known from their extensive swimming and retrieving abilities.
Spaniels have a habit to become compatible with fellow dogs and cats; however they maintain distance with small animals.
Swimming, hunting and rescue abilities are the main characteristics of a golden retriever.
Golden retrievers and Labrador retrievers should be trained at a very early age when they start feeling the urge for urination.
For the puppy to be able to wet, soil and chew his crate the crate can’t have a bedding in the bottom, but it can have a wire shelf with a cover.
It is important to make a habit out of putting the puppy in his create and night and letting him out in the morning. Also to check the chewed up mess because it could choke him.
After choosing the proper place where the puppy will go potty, like a grassy spot or a mat, every morning take the puppy out and take him to that spot.
The puppy must be repeatedly encouraged with words in a gentle tone.
Reward the puppy with treats and affection when he uses the spot you taught him to go potty in.
You must intervene in your puppy’s accidents every time, for this you need to constantly supervise him so as to correct him for him to learn.
If you keep your dog constantly supervised you’ll make his training easier and faster.
For the puppy to be potty trained every time he obeys your command to potty reward him with a special treat and extra attention.
Also, food and water can help your puppy go if he doesn’t go when he first gets up.
(If he has a potty mat inside keep it separate from his feeding area) Then take him to where he can try to go again.
Remember that at first the puppy is a baby so it will take him some time to learn especially since at first he’ll have to go right after every time he eats.
You’re puppy will be trained in no time if you give him the same dedication as the first day for a couple of weeks.
