Golden Retriever Training

Canines aren’t like people, as a result they need to learn in some other ways. Dogs do not have people responses, and thus they don’t function with the principle of right or wrong. Rather, they operate on a principle of response, led by the actions you give them. If their actions cause a bad response from you, they’ll likely understand that what they are doing is wrong and will stop doing that kind of behavior.

If your dog does something correctly, he ought to be rewarded for it. If your Golden Retriever is listening to what you say and doing well, you need to reward him with a treat or praise. Letting him see that he is doing fine leads to a positive response. On the other hand, if he isn’t listening to you or doing the complete opposite of the actions you state, you should not reward him in the least - but instead scold him with a stern NO.

Whilst training a Golden Retriever, timing is a very powerful component. If the dog is doing something bad, you should not wait or hesitate to correct him. This possibly will give the incorrect impression. The instant your Golden is doing something bad, you need to correct him right then and there, so that he will see without a doubt what he’s doing incorrectly.

One example is, if your Golden Retriever is chasing automobiles, you obviously would like to stop this habit before it gets it out of hand. The minute you see him carrying this out, you should always prohibit him and let him understand he’s wrong. In this way, he will realize that chasing vehicles is something he shouldn’t be doing. It could take some time for your pet to understand this, so you’ll need to hold your ground and continue to correct him when he is doing something that you simply don’t like.

This kind of theory is similar to that relating to praise. When you see your Golden Retriever doing something correctly, make sure you praise your pet straight away. If you do not praise him straight away but on the other hand delay until he has finished, he will presume you are praising him for stopping. To be on the safe side and get the maximum out of your Golden, always praise him when he is acting in the right way, then correct him when he’s behaving in a bad way.

When you spend some time and demonstrate patience with your Golden Retriever, you shouldn’t have any problems training him. The training course of action may need quite a bit of time, although it is quite worth it in the end. After you have trained your Golden Retriever, he will respond to the actions you say, and refrain from doing the actions he was always corrected for. Training Golden Retrievers is important for your dog and will make him a better dog when he is older.
