If you own a Boxer, then you will want to buy the best Boxer dog food. But what is the best dog food for your Boxer? Do you need hypoallergenic? What ingredients should it contain? What ingredients should it not contain? Answering these questions will lead you to the best dog food.

There is a huge misconception when comes to allergies and hypoallergenic dog foods. Really, there is no such thing as hypoallergenic dog food. When a dog does have a true allergy it is because it developed over time. This means if you fed your dog a pure lamb diet, it could develop an allergy to lamb just as easily as it would to chicken. Therefore, feeding your Boxer a diet with various meats will not increase its chances of developing allergies. Actually, you will improve your Boxer’s overall nutrition by feeding it a dog food with a variety of meats.

It is important to feed your Boxer a healthy natural diet.  Unfortunately, premium dog food brands don’t include some very healthy ingredients. Just look at packages of Eukanuba, Purina, Iams and other major brands. You will see they don’t all contain fruits, vegetables, guaranteed direct fed-microbials, and guaranteed omega-3. I am not saying they don’t contain any of these but finding one that contains them all is hard to come by.

When looking for a good dog food, the easiest thing to check is the ingredients list. If corn or corn meal is in the 1st five ingredients, then you know you are buying filler. The higher on the list corn or corn meal is the more filler it contains.

Let’s compare Eukanuba, Beneful, and Life’s Abundance:

Eukanuba is considered a premium dog food yet is has corn meal listed as its third ingredient.

Beneful is a cheaper brand but the ingredients speak for themselves. The first ingredient is ground yellow corn. Then the third ingredient is corn glutton meal. The only meat is listed as chicken byproduct meal which is disgusting, if you know the AAFCO definition of chicken byproduct meal.

Life’s Abundance does not list corn in the first five ingredients. In fact chicken meal is the first ingredient and chicken fat is the fourth ingredient. It, like Eukanuba, is considered a premium brand and costs about the same per daily feed amount.
