If we wish to prevent our dog from biting, the best thing to do is to train them while they are still small puppies. All puppies naturally love to play and they enjoy their interaction with people. But then, they are also impressionable, so if we are going to teach them which things are right from wrong in their early stages and consistently enforce it on them, then they will not have the chance to develop any bad habits like biting. Now, many people might be speculating on how to stop dog biting. The very first step that we have to do is to have an available toy for our puppies to play with, and do not allow them to play any games which involves biting. If our puppy bites us, even while we are playing with them, we should immediately let out a loud and high pitched sound of “ouch” just to startle our puppy. Our puppy will surely recognize what we are doing, simply because when puppies are playing with each other, they are letting each other know when they have been hurt with the use of a loud whelp. This is the main reason why we should do the same. This will helpfully make our puppy realize that biting is an undesirable behavior.

Another tip on how to stop dog biting is to never punish them physically, as this action might just provoke them and develop a long-term fear on us that will need harder work to reverse. Instead of physically punishing them, take no notice of the puppy for a few minutes, or even verbalize to them that what they have done is inappropriate. By just simply repeating this technique for a few times will surely teach our puppy that people won’t play and stay if they will continue biting. Since our puppies love attention, this lesson will be quickly learned by them. We should avoid games such as tug of war or even those games which involves taking some items out of our puppy’s mouth, as this might lead them to biting and start with it as a bad habit.Check this out: How To Stop Dog Biting

Each person in the family must also be consistent with the dog’s planned training. Even the children in our family must also be taught how to handle a bite from our puppy, and should always be supervised when they are playing with our puppy. The children in our house may even have to learn how they should play with our puppy, just as our puppy needs to learn to play with them. We must also take care not to tolerate our puppy mouthing or even biting our fingers. Several other people wrongly perceive this as a delightful or loving behavior towards us. But if we are going to teach our dog that it is alright to bite other people, the act might develop into serious dog aggression if untreated early.
