How To Train Your Beagle

New Beagle owners are sometimes unprepared for how much they howl and yelp.  Luckily, a lot of information is available about how to stop a dog whining.  For people with Beagle puppies, they may also want to know about Beagle potty training and puppy feeding. Inviting a Beagle, (or any dog), into your home is a big decision and not one that should be made lightly. Keep in mind that it make take a while for your Beagle puppy to feel comfortable in its new home and to “learn the ropes.” With Beagle training, it’s important to keep a sense of humor, (or to find one if you’ve lost yours somewhere along the way).

How to Feed a Puppy

Whether your puppy is a Beagle or other breed, bear in mind the following:
•    Keep in mind that your pup’s stomach isn’t as strong as an older dogs’.  Any alterations to their eating habits, (both time and what they eat) should be made as gradually as possible. Changing things too quickly may cause your dog to be constipated, experience diarrhea, or even vomit. If your dog has any of these problems, you may need to slow down or even take them in to see a veterinarian.
•    Many people mistakenly believe that puppies need milk. Dogs do not have the proper enzymes in their digestive track to properly break down cow’s milk.
•    Water is essential not only for your dog’s digestive process, but for their overall health as well. Make sure they have fresh water available to drink.

Other Beagle Training Tips

Many people find that their Beagle dog is hard to train. Beagles can be very determined and it can be hard to get them to pay attention to training and instructions. They are also easily distracted by smells and often do not respond to commands when on the trail. Treats are sometimes a good way for training Beagle. Dog training to stop whining may also be needed when training Beagle dog, as they are prone to howling and baying.
