Getting your dog to stop barking poses quite the obsticle because you are trying to stop something that is part of their history. Don’t forget , your dog isn’t barking just to get your goat, so punishing him is not a very effective method of fixing it.

What Barking Would You Like To Stop?
The first step is to decide which barking behavior you would like to stop. Getting your dog to stop barking completely is something that you don’t want to do. This would be next to impossible to do and it would just not be normal. Nusiance barking should be the ones you focus on first. For instance, if you leave him out back does the barking seem like it will never end? Does the yapping start every single time somebody is at the door? That’s just a couple there are probably hundreds more.
Pick the times that the barking is the biggest nuisance and then try and curb that one.
Is There A Reason Behind This?
Nine times out of ten, something is causing your pup to bark. When he hears someone outside the door, he is giving you a heads up.
The all night barking in the yard could be loneliness or boredom.
You will be much more equipped to fix the behavior if you can just figure out the why.
The answer could be as easy as just redirecting his focus. Bring him in the house if he barks all-night if left outside.
Begin Training
Get involved in some sort of dog training program. Fixing the bad behaviors of a trained dog is so much easier to do than if the dog has no training.

Help from a professional trainer maybe needed when you are just about at the end of your rope. If you decide to go with a trainer, make sure he has dealt with barking problem dogs and the breed type of your dog.
