Orthopedic Dog Bed

Before choosing a large orthopedic dog bed for your large dog, you need to measure your dog and consider a few other things.
You measure your dog by measuring him or her from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail and from the floor to the head. You are now better equipped to determine the size of dog bed required.
Notice your dog’s sleeping profile. Notice whether your dog stretches out or curls up while sleeping? Most dog beds only accommodate one of the two sleeping styles. If your dog does not seem to have a single style of sleeping, then you could opt for a sofa style bed. Sofa styled large dog beds are both long and wide to accommodate a stretch sleeping style, sofa style beds also have bolstered sides to support the curling sleeper.
For dogs that sleep in a curl or ball style, measure its diameter while it sleeps. When purchasing a curl style bed, the diameter will help you identify the correct bed size.
You can now size the dog bed using the measurements that you noted earlier. For a stretch bed, allow an extra 12 inches on both dimensions to ensure your dog can comfortably stretch his or herself. Allow an extra 8 inches on the diameter of a curl style bed.
Finally know your material. Orthopedic dog beds are available with a variety of different fillers. So how do you know which is the best quality? Look at the equivalent material used in human mattresses. For their mattress, memory foam is chosen for maximum comfort and support. Egg crate foam is only used in human mattress toppers. If it is not good enough for humans, why should it be good enough for your pet. If your dog is large, then you dog is probably also heavy and maximum support for your pet’s weight and body is needed.
With the above simple criteria you should now be able to better identify great orthopedic dog beds for your dog.
