The Dog Mating Process
Posted Under: Uncategorized
Dog mating is an impressive process however people are somehow discomfited to see dogs mating because of the tendency of these animals to copulate anywhere. The mating act of dogs is kind of odd but the process ensures the perpetuation of this animal species. Dogs are bred for various reasons. Financial gain is one of the reasons why dogs are bred. It is certainly understandable if a dog owner would want to care for dogs produced by the pet.
Another reason for mating dogs is to develop a dog with the disposition and looks of outstanding breeds. Whatever reasons these dog owners have for breeding the dog, one thing is common. A healthy litter would be the common goal of pet owners and professional breeders for breeding the dog.
Long time dog owners would present a blas© front when exposed to the mating of dogs. A new owner though may find the act rather alarming especially if the mating is the first time for both or for one of the dogs. The distressed whining of the pet will naturally alarm the owner. The dogs may appear as if trying to pull away from each other and an uninformed owner may try to separate the dogs. The mating dogs may appear to be hurt or distressed but no effort must be done to separate them. Male and female dogs are naturally stuck together while mating and any effort done to separate them will cause unnecessary injury.
Not like female dogs that will allow to be mated only during the estrus stage, male dogs are always ready to mate. The bitch will hold the tail to one side indicating that she is ready thus a bitch that seems to be pulling away is not being forced to mate. The bitch will allow the favored dog to mount her from behind in seconds the vulva will be penetrated. While still tied at the rear ends, one dog will swing the legs over the other so that the mating dogs will face an opposite direction.
A dog’s male member can achieve penetration even if it is not erect. A small bone in the male member called baculum is what keeps the male member stiff. After penetration, the tie will take place. The mating dogs will be tied together as the male member tissues swollen with blood traps the male member inside the female dog. The dogs will remain stuck together for about 20 or 30 minutes until all the sperms have entered the vulva. With the mating tie, the survival of canines is ensured.
